Zhang Ziyi is a new media artist working with real-time 3D rendering and interactive immersive technology. Her whimsical fantasy color palette and sophisticated semiotics bring contemporary themes to life in a heart-touching way. In her iconic series, Butterfly Island, she creates digital butterflies, each flying with unique data set on this magical island, exploring topics of diversity and cultural inclusivity. Her work delves into themes of humanity, heritage, social and ecological sustainability in the context of the contemporary digital age. Ziyi’s art has been exhibited internationally across China, Singapore, Europe, and the US, with notable showcases at the Ars Electronica Festival (2023) in Austria and Singapore’s Landmark Building Ten Square (2023).

A beautiful melody comes from heart.
A simulated human heart, along with its pulsating blood vessels, rests quietly inside a transparent glass violin. The violin is hollow, but with the heart, it produces melody.
Music and emotion are intertwined, and in this work, the heart and violin merge. The heart is not only a symbol of life but also the source of emotion and art. Like the human heart, the violin’s melody is fragile yet full of vitality.
The combination of heart and violin symbolizes the pursuit of inner harmony. Just as a violin needs to be tuned to produce beautiful music, human emotions require balance and harmony to find fulfillment and resonance within the soul.
Through The Voice of the Heart, the Sound of the Violin, we not only hear the melody of music but also feel the collision and intertwining of life and art within the realm of emotion.
